Windows 10: “GWXUX has stopped working”

When Windows 10 users turn on the Reservation program and try to click something it shows error message like “GWXUX has stopped working”.

Fix 1 : Remove the update

GWXUX.EXE program was installed via Windows Update KB3035583.

Do a System Restore to a time before this error message began appearing.   Then navigate to Control panel -> Uninstall programs and remove the particular update.

Fix 2: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  1. Press the Windows Key.
  2. Press  search bar.
  3. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and Click on Troubleshooting.
  4. Press View All and then click on Windows Update.
  5. If the issue still persist, refer to the below method.

Fix 3: Temporary solution

  1. Right click the Task bar and navigate to Properties.
  2. Click the Customize button in the Taskbar.
  3. When you see windows 10 change it to : hide notifications and icon.

    1) open task manager
    2) find GWX app
    3) right click, open file explorer there
    4) select GWX exe, right click and select properties
    5) security tab. select change ownership, change to your admin account
    6) apply and close properties
    7) reopen properties, select security advanced
    8) give yourself full rights
    9) rename or delete GWX

      Thankyou so much MEC, I hadn’t installed that update and was getting this stupid error message after hiding the notification and icon for Get Windows 10 popup in the corner, your fix worked for me (I renamed it instead of deleting it just in case).
      I had also unticked and hid the above windows update from my “yet to be downloaded” list but that hadn’t fixed the error either.
