5 Ways to Fix White Screen on Mac

Mac Won’t turn on. It get stuck on white screen upon startup. MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or Mac Mini stuck on White screen because of the hardware or software problem.

Fix 1 : Start your Mac in Safe mode

Mac OS X 10.2 or latest version Mac OS X include Disk repair and checking feature. So try to start your Mac in Safe mode.

  1. Shut down your Mac system.
  2. Press the Power button while holding down the Shift button on keyboard.
  3. Release the Shift key after you see the Apple logo.
  4. After your macBook Pro fully starts, restart the computer  normally without holding any button during boot up.

Fix 2 : Run Disk Utility and verify/repair disk

  1. Shut down your Mac computer.
  2. Turn on Mac and hold the Command + R keys until you see the Apple logo.
  3. Then you should see the Mac OS X Utilities window.
  4. Choose Disk utility. Select your Mac OS X hard drive and click Verify/repair disk.

Fix 3: Reset PRAM

If you want to solve Mac boot failure problem, reset PRAM (parameter random access memory). PRAM stores some settings. To do PRAM reset,

  1. Turn off Mac.
  2. Turn on Mac and immediately hold down Option+Command+P+R keys until Mac system restarts. After Mac startup release the keys.

Fix 4: Try SMC Reset (Portable Mac with non-user-removable batteries – MacBook Air, late 2009 MacBook Pro models)

  1. Shut down Mac.
  2. Connect MagSafe power adapter to Mac and to power outlet.
  3. On built-in Mac keyboard, left Shift + control + option keys while you press the power button.
  4. Release all keys at the same time. You can see the power plug color change from red to green.

Fix 5: Reinstall Mac OS X
